Once your shoe drive is complete, you are ready to pack your shoes. Please follow the steps below as you prepare the shoes, socks and shoelaces for deliver to Buckner.
Step 1: Pack the Shoes
Shoe Preparation
1. Remove the shoes from shoeboxes.
2. Make sure shoelaces are tied together and secured to the shoes. (You do not need to lace the shoes.)
3. (Optional step) Remove all tags & paper. Fasten properly matched pair with plastic tie, running the ties through the eyelets of the shoes or back tabs. Do NOT fasten through laces. For shoes that do not have an eyelet, use the fasteners to create a chain that goes around the shoes. (You can purchase plastic ties, which are referred to as electrical ties, at any hardware store.)
4. Insert any pictures or letters into the shoes. The children love to read your messages!
5. Count shoes (mark each box with your count) and place them in boxes for delivery.
Sock Preparation
1. Leave socks in original package.
2. Count socks (mark each box with your count) and place them in boxes for delivery.
Shoelace Preparation
Remove shoelaces from exterior packaging but leave the wrapper which holds them together. Place shoelaces in boxes for delivery. (You do not need to count them.)
Step 2: Complete the Shoe Packing Form
Once you have finished packing the shoes, please be sure to complete a packing form. Print a copy of the packing form and enclose it in each box of your shipment of shoes. Our warehouse will electronically receive a notification that your shoes are being shipped and will allow us to track the arrival of your box(es).
